Brain and Behavior: A Cognitive Neuroscience Perspective addresses the central aims of cognitive neuroscience, seeking to examine the brain not only by its components but also by their functions. It highlights the principles, discoveries, and remaining mysteries of modern cognitive
neuroscience.

Brain and Behavior covers a wide swath of territory critical for understanding the brain, from the basics of the nervous system, to sensory and motor systems, sleep, language, memory, emotions and motivation, social cognition, and brain disorders. Throughout the narrative, the authors emphasize the
dynamically changing nature of the brain, through the mechanisms of neuroplasticity. Wherever possible, they refer to elements of neuroscience that are encountered in everyday life. Key points and concepts are illustrated using case studies of rare but illuminating brain disorders. Brain and
Behavior pulls together the best current knowledge about the brain while acknowledging current areas of ignorance and pointing students towards the most promising directions for future research.

Good writing! Great spirit of inquiry!

This book helps bridge the huge gap between neuroscience and psychology. In my opinion, psychology without solid grounding in neuroscience is just mumbo-jumbo. There must be biological bases for human behaviors - at least as a starting point. Ultimately, evolutionary forces must also be accounted for (however not the goal of this book.) The Good: Accessible language and explanations. The authority of this book comes from authentic spirit of inquiry - not stiff academic tone. I particularly like the "Starting Out" scenarios at the beginning of each chapter and case studies. They serve well to orient the reader. In fact, they also help me to recall later which chapter to find which topics. The Bad:There are some places where the conclusion seems to jump a step. I didn't quite follow. All in all - every good writing.

Arguably the most interesting book I've ever read.

A very thorough intro to cognitive neuroscience. Very well written and easy to understand.

The book arrived scratched and dented, although I purchased it new. Otherwise, the content inside the book is well organized and written.

This book does a great job of explaining things understandably while still going in depth, and using a great deal of studies to do so. It is the perfect brain food.
